GLOBOSAT is Brazil’s largest television network and the second largest in the world. Given that Brazil is also the country where much of our team hails from, we were thrilled to re-brand GLOBOSAT’s hugely popular rock music and entertainment station, Bis Multishow HD.
(Portuguese 101: “Bis” = Brazilian term for “encore”.)
After many rounds of design, director Chico Jofilsan’s “Multiplos” concept was settled upon. The concept is a dizzying swirl of deconstructed and choreographed musical instruments and equipment; a world where helical curves meet Busby Berkeley and together make a sort of neo-psychedelic ocular rock experiment.
A challenge we faced in the creation of the rebrand was how to keep the long list of deliverables fresh yet cohesive. Since most of it was complex 3D work, we decided the best strategy was to build a library of structures and then animate and “shoot” them in different ways to create a range of menus, endpages, IDs, and other items on the list.
The typographic and 2D animated wipe were designed as a pattern of concentric circles, echoing the spiraling theme of the 3D structures. With the 2D toolkit, live-action clips can be integrated into the transitions, slicing and transforming the footage as the 2D animated graphics wipe the screen. Next time you find yourself in Brazil and sleeping off that Ipanema Beach hangover, make sure to tune in and check it out 😉
